Steckbrief

Er ist eines der großen Aushängeschilder im österreichischen Behindertensport: Markus Salcher. Seit Jahren ist der Kärntner vor allem in den Speed-Disziplinen das Maß aller Dinge, nach Doppel-Gold bei der Para-Ski-WM in La Molina 2013 folgte mit den Paralympics in SOCHI 2014 sein bisheriges Karriere-Highlight.

Mit zwei Goldmedaillen (Abfahrt, Super-G) und einmal Bronze (Riesentorlauf) avancierte er zu einem der Stars der Spiele. Seither dominiert Salcher, der seit seiner Geburt halbseitig gelähmt ist, im Weltcup, holte auch bei der Para-WM 2017 in Tarvis zwei Goldene und einmal Bronze.

2018 in PyeongChang bewies der Kärntner großen Kampfgeist: Obwohl ihm die Strecke nicht entgegenkam, holte er in Abfahrt und Super-G Bronze. Das soll aber noch lange nicht das Ende der Fahnenstange gewesen sein. Salchers Ansage: „Mein Ziel sind die Paralympics 2022 in Peking. Wenn alles gut geht, könnte ich mir dann auch noch 2026 in Mailand bzw. Cortina vorstellen!“
